# Governance is classification-driven with inheritance

Governance intent is declared in authored contracts, and the runtime control plane resolves it into effective policies. Classifications should be sufficient to derive access, masking, retention, audit, and agent-permission behavior in common cases. Classifications inherit through the data product hierarchy, such as domain to product to asset to field; weakening inherited governance requires an explicit approved exception.
