# Agent runtime API is product-first

The agent runtime API is organized around data products rather than tables or jobs. Agents discover products, inspect runtime-served contract views, follow links to lineage/runs/tests/docs/policies, and request controlled actions. Mutating operations are modeled as action requests rather than direct production mutation so governance, product status, risk tier, and approvals remain in the path.
