  + In a multi tenant architecture several instances of an application operate in a shared environment
  + Each tenant is integrated physically, but logically separated
  + One software instance serves multiple tenants

Why is multi-tenancy so important? Consider what it would take to apply updates or add a new Tenant.

Especially important in the cloud, but more complicated to implement and maintain data integrity, high availability, security and response time.
