# DDL Statement Process Overview

The execution process of DDL statements can be described as:

1. TiDB server receives a DDL statement request.

2. TiDB server converts the DDL statement into a Job, and store it in the DDL Job queue in TiKV.

3. TiDB server consumes the DDL Job queue from TiKV server.

4. TiDB server executes the change operations (CREATE, DROP, ALTER, etc.) in the Job and persists the changed state.

5. TiDB server removes the successfully executed Job from the DDL queue and put it into the history queue.
