-------------------------------------------------------------
In 2005, Gartner proposed the concept of HTAP (Hybrid transactional and analytical processing, an online transactional processing and online analytical processing database), and in 2014, Gartner gave a clear definition of HTAP databases, which need to support both OLTP and OLAP scenarios.

First of all, the characteristics of OLTP business can be summarized as:
1. Generally row storage, supporting real-time updates;
2. Supporting high concurrency, with high requirements for consistency;
3. Querying a small amount of data each time.

Secondly, the characteristics of OLAP business can be summarized as: 1. Generally column-based, with more batch updates; 2. Low concurrency; 3. Large amount of data operated every time.

For example, our daily payments and transfers belong to OLTP business, while reports and real-time statistics belong to OLAP business. HTAP refers to the database technology that can support both OLTP and OLAP scenarios.
