# Using Top SQL: Step 1

+ Choose a specific TiDB or TiKV instance to observe the workload

The use of Top SQL is very simple, for example:

1. Access the Top SQL page on the TiDB Dashboard.

2. Choose a specific TiDB instance or TiKV instance that you want to observe the load.

Additionally, you can adjust the time range in the time picker, or box select a time range in the chart, to observe the issue more precisely and thoroughly. A smaller time range will provide more detailed data, with the highest data precision up to 1 second.

If the data shown in the chart is outdated, you can click the "Refresh" button, or select auto-refresh in the "Refresh" drop-down list.
