# Choosing the Cluster `Tier`

+ TiDB Cloud offers the following cluster options. Before you create a TiDB cluster, consider which option is best for your needs:
  + `Serverless Tier (beta)`
  + `Dedicated Tier`
+ HTAP capability is available for both types

`TiDB Cloud Serverless Tier (beta)` is a fully managed service for TiDB. You can use `Serverless Tier (beta)` clusters for non-production workloads such as prototype applications, academic courses, or to provide ad hoc data services for non-commercial datasets.

`TiDB Cloud Dedicated Tier` is dedicated to production use and offers all the benefits of high availability across availability zone, horizontal scale, etc.

The HTAP capability are available for both types.
