# Local Temporary Tables

__*LOCAL TEMPORARY TABLE*__

+ **`CREATE TEMPORARY TABLE`**:
+ Only exists for the duration of the client session
+ Visible only to the session that created it
+ Overrides the definition of a permanent table
+ Will not appear in **`information_schema.tables`**
------------------------------------------------------------
- The semantics of local temporary tables are the same as MySQL temporary tables, which have the following characteristics:
  - The table definition of a local temporary table is not persistent and is only visible within the session that created the table; other sessions cannot access the local temporary table
  - Different sessions can create local temporary tables with the same name. Each session will only reads and writes local temporary tables created within that session
  - Data from local temporary tables is visible to all transaction in the session
  - Local temporary tables created by the session are automatically deleted after the session ends
  - A local temporary table can have the same name as a normal table, in which case in DDL and DML statements the normal table is hidden until the local temporary table is dropped

- Users can create local temporary tables with the CREATE TEMPORARY TABLE statement and drop local temporary tables with the DROP TABLE or DROP TEMPORARY TABLE statements.
