# Officially Maintained Connectors
+ `MySQL` vendor's connectors:
  + **`Connector/J`** supports `Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) API` standard
+ **`Connector/ODBC`** supports the `Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) API` standard
+ **`Connector/NET`** enables developers to create `.NET` applications that connect to `TiDB`
+ **`Connector/Python`** provides driver support, supports `Python` applications to connect to `TiDB`, and conforms to Python `DB API Specification v2.0`
+ **`Connector/C++`** enables `C++` applications to connect to `TiDB` servers
  + **`Connector/C`** is a stand-alone version of the `C Client Library (libmysqlclient)`

------------------------------------------------------------
`Connector/J`
`Connector/J` is written in `Java` and implements MySQL's `client/server` communication protocol directly.

`Connector/ODBC`
`Connector/ODBC` provides a MySQL-specific driver for ODBC that allows ODBC-based clients to access.
`Connector/ODBC` is available for UNIX, Windows, and OS X.
`Connector/ODBC` uses the C Client Library `(libmysqlclient)` to implement the client/server communication protocol. It converts ODBC calls made by the client program into C API operations that communicate with the server. Connections can be established using TCP/IP, UNIX socket files, or named pipes.

`Connector/NET`
`Connector/NET` is written entirely in `C#` and `ADO.NET` and implements the client/server communication protocol directly. Connections are established using TCP/IP, UNIX socket files, named pipes, or shared memory.
`Connector/NET` is available for Windows with the `.NET` platform.

`Connector/Python`
`Connector/Python` is written in pure Python with minimal dependencies.
You can use the `Connector/Python C Extension` for better performance than the pure Python implementation.

`Connector/C++`
`Connector/C++` is available for UNIX and UNIX like systems and Windows. The application `MySQL Workbench` uses `Connector/C++`.

`Connector/C`
`Connector/C` is a stand-alone version of the C client library. This API can be used for writing MySQL-based C programs. Many Connectors are based on `Connector/C` (the Java and `.NET` interfaces are notable exceptions).
