Independent third parties develop and distribute Connectors in many other languages. Many third-party client interfaces are available. Most are based on the C Client Library `(libmysqlclient)` and provide a binding for some other language.

Including: `Ada Cocoa`, `D`, `Eiffel`, `Erlang`, `Haskell Kaya`, `Lua`, `Objective Caml`, `Octave`, `Scheme SPL`, and `Tcl`.

If you are considering using these APIs in your project, you must contact the developers directly to determine whether they provide support.

For PHP, the MySQL native driver is `mysqlnd`. Like `Connector/NET` and `Connector/J`, this is a direct implementation of the MySQL client/server protocol, built in `C/C++` inside the PHP framework. This is not a PHP script but a binary library that is part of the PHP distribution and takes advantage of the many utilities and objects of PHP. Since PHP 5.3, it is the default implementation and is used by the API modules `mysqli` and `PDO_mysql` instead of `libmysqlclient`.
