# Prepared Statements And Connector/J
+ Compile the prepared statement using Connector/J:
  + Create a Connection object
+ Create a PreparedStatement object by using the prepareStatement( ) method on an instance of the Connection class
+ Execute:
+ Assign values to all placeholders in the compiled statement
+ Use a setter method specific to the data type:
      + `setXXX(parameter_number, value)`
+ To assign a NULL value, use
        + `setNull(parameter_number, data_type)`
+ The above data_type is a JDBC type java.sql.types.char, such as java.sql.types.Integer, etc.
+ Call the appropriate execution method
+ If the statement return a result set, use executeQuery( )
    + Otherwise, use executeUpdate( )

Connector/J supports server-side prepared statements by implementing the PreparedStatement interface in the java.sql package. Create a PreparedStatement object by using the prepareStatement() method on an instance of the Connection object.

Use the PreparedStatement object's setXXX() methods to bind values to parameter markers, where XXX is the data type of the value you want to bind. For example: setString, setInt

To assign a null value, call setNull() and pass in the position of the parameter marker you want to set and the JDBC data type it represents.
