# Set The Sql Mode

__*SQL_MODE*__

+ If the value of the SQL mode is empty or contains more than one value, it must be enclosed in quotation marks
  + `SET sql_mode = '';`
+ If the value contains a single name, the quote is optional
  + `SET sql_mode = ANSI_QUOTES;`
+ If GLOBAL or SESSION is not specified, the default value is SESSION
+ SQL mode values are case-insensitive

------------------------------------------------------------
`SET [ SESSION | GLOBAL ] sql_mode='modes'` Set the SQL mode.

When setting a GLOBAL level SQL mode, the user needs to have SUPER privilege, and only new connections established after setting the SQL mode are affected (note: old connections are not affected). SESSION level SQL mode changes only affect the current client.

Setting the global variable specifies the default SQL mode for all subsequent client connections. Setting the session variable affects only the current client, until it disconnects. Any client can change its own session sql_mode value at any time. When neither GLOBAL nor SESSION is specified, the default is SESSION.

Some SQL mode values are combination modes that enable a set of modes. Values in this category include ANSI and TRADITIONAL.
