# Rocksdb

+ RocksDB is optimized for Flash storage with minimal latency and uses the LSM storage engine.
  + High-performance key-value database
+ Perfect persistence mechanism while ensuring performance and safety
+ Good range of support queries
+ Designed for application servers that need to store terabytes of data into local FLASH or RAM
+ Optimized for small and medium key values stored in high-speed devices—can be stored in FLASH or directly in memory
+ Performance increases linearly with the number of CPU, friendly to multi-core systems
------------------------------------------------------------
TiKV does not choose to write data directly to disk, but saves the data in RocksDB. RocksDB is responsible for the specific data landing. RocksDB is a very good open source single-instance storage engine that can meet our requirements for a single-instance engine. Here, RocksDB can simply be considered a single-instance key-value map. RocksDB is optimized for Flash storage with minimal latency, and RocksDB uses the LSM storage engine.

It has the following characteristics:
- High-performance key-value database
- Perfect persistence mechanism while guaranteeing performance and safety
- Good support for range query
- Designed for application servers that need to store terabytes of data into local FLASH or RAM
- Optimized for small and medium key values stored in high-speed devices — can be stored in FLASH or directly in memory
- Performance increases linearly with the number of CPU, friendly to multi-core systems
