# Exercise 4-1: Scaling out and Scaling in TiDB Cloud Cluster

## Overview
+ In this exercise, you scale out and scale in TiDB cluster on TiDB Cloud.


## Notes:
+ This task is for `TiDB Dedicated` cluster only.

## Duration
+ This exercise should take you approximately 15 minutes to complete.

## Tasks
1. Click drop-down menu in the upper-right corner, and then select `Modify`.
2. In the `Modify Cluster` window, scale out or scale in TiDB cluster.

## Solution Steps
(a) Scale out TiDB Cloud cluster
1. Click drop-down menu in the upper-right corner, and then select `Modify`.

2. In the `Modify Cluster` window, you can increase the Node quantity of TiDB, TiKV, and TiFlash.

3. Review the cluster size in the right pane, and then click `Confirm`.

4. Wait for your TiDB Cloud cluster to scale out.


(b) Scale in TiDB Cloud cluster
1. Click drop-down menu in the upper-right corner, and then select `Modify`.

2. In the `Modify Cluster` window, you can decrease the Node quantity of TiDB, TiKV,nd TiFlash.

3. Review the cluster size in the right pane, and then click `Confirm`.

4. Wait for your TiDB Cloud cluster to scale in.
