# Introduction to `Dumpling`

+ `Dumpling` is a client-side tool that connects to a running `TiDB` server for data export
+ It supports **`Hot`** and **`Warm`** logical backups
+ **`Hot`** backups are backups that are performed on data while the database is online and accessible to users
+ In a **`Warm`** backup scenario the server is powered on, but some database operations may be restricted
+ **`Cold`** backups are backups that are performed on data while the database is offline and not accessible to users
+ Exported data stores in `SQL` or `CSV` format
+ Filter enables you to filter data by **`WHERE`** like expressions
+ Supports export data from `TiDB` and `MySQL`
+ Supports export to `Amazon S3 bucket`
+ Optimized for `TiDB`

-------------------------------------------------------------
`Dumpling` exports data stored in `TiDB/MySQL` as `SQL` or `CSV` data files and can be used to make a logical full backup or export.

`Dumpling` is written in `Go`.

The new `table-filter` is supported, making it easier to filter data.

Supports export to `Amazon S3 bucket`.
