+ **Step 1** - Modify configuration file `tidb/config/config.toml` for `TiDB` server
+ **Step 2** - Restart the `TiDB` server cluster
+ **Step 3** - Connect to `TiDB` server as `root` without password
+ **Step 4** - Set a new password for `root`

```8
~!@// Step 1@!~
[security]
skip-grant-table = true
~!@// Step 3@!~
mysql -h 127.0.0.1 -P 4000 -u root
```

-------------------------------------------------------------
1. Modify the configuration file and add `skip-grant-table` in the security section:
```
[security]
skip-grant-table = true
```

2. Start `TiDB` with the modify configuration, and then modify the password after logging in as root:
```
mysql -h 127.0.0.1 -P 4000 -u root
```
After setting `skip-grant-table`, starting the `TiDB` process increases OS user checks. Only the root user of the operating system can start the `TiDB` process.
