# Deploying with TiUP Step 7 - Launch a Cluster

__*TiDB deployment steps*__
__*TIUP CLUSTER START*__
__*Start TiDB*__

+ Safe boot:
  + `tiup cluster start ${cluster-name} --init`

+ Normal startup:
  + `tiup cluster start ${cluster-name}`

-------------------------------------------------------------
Secure startup is a new way to start TiUP cluster since v1.9.0. Starting a database using this method can improve database security. Safe boot is recommended.

After secure boot, TiUP will automatically generate the password for the TiDB root user and return the password in the command line interface.

notice
After using the secure boot method, you cannot log in to the database as the root user without a password. You need to record the password return from the command line for subsequent operations.

The automatically generated password will only be return once. If you do not record it or forget the password, refer to Forgot the root password to modify the password.

The expected result is the output of Started cluster `tidb-test` completed, indicating that the startup was successful. Using the normal boot method, you can log in to the database as the root user without a password.
