# Connect to a TiDB Cluster on TiDB Cloud

__*TiDB Cloud Cluster Connection*__

+ Connecting through a SQL client
  + standard connection
  + VPC peering
+ Connect via SQL shell
-------------------------------------------------------------
After you create a TiDB cluster on TiDB Cloud, you can connect to your TiDB cluster using one of the following three methods. You can access the cluster through a SQL client, or you can quickly access the cluster through the SQL shell in the TiDB Cloud console.

Connecting through a SQL client

Connect via standard connection: A standard connection exposes a public endpoint with a traffic filter, so you can connect to your TiDB cluster from your laptop.

Connect via VPC peering: If you want to reduce latency and increase security, set up VPC peering and connect through a private endpoint using a VM instance from the appropriate cloud provider in your Cloud account. Note that you can't use a VPC peering connection in a Developer Tier cluster

Connect via SQL shell: Try out TiDB SQL and quickly test TiDB compatibility with MySQL, or manage user privileges
