# Solution to Forgetting the Root Password

__*TiDB root password*__

+ modify configuration files
```12
[security]
skip-grant-table = true
```
+ Effective restart the database
  + `mysql -h 127.0.0.1 -P 4000 -u root`

1. Modify the configuration file and add skip-grant-table in the security section:
[security]
skip-grant-table = true

2. Start TiDB with the modify configuration, and then modify the password after logging in as root:
mysql -h 127.0.0.1 -P 4000 -u root
After setting skip-grant-table, starting the TiDB process increases OS user checks. Only the root user of the operating system can start the TiDB process.
