# Preparing for Version Upgrades - Updating TiUP

__*TiDB version upgrade process*__

__*TIUP UPDATE*__

+ Upgrading the TiUP version (recommended tiup version is not lower than 1.10.0)
  + `tiup update --self`

+ Upgrading the TiUP Cluster version (recommended tiup cluster version is not lower than 1.10.0)
  + `tiup update cluster`

Recommended tiup version no earlier than 1.10.0

Upgrade the TiUP version first (it is recommended that the tiup version is not lower than 1.10.0):
tiup update —self
tiup —version

Upgrade the TiUP Cluster version again (it is recommended that the tiup cluster version be no lower than 1.10.0):
tiup update cluster
tiup cluster —version

After the overwrite upgrade is complete, execute the following command to upgrade the Cluster components:
tiup update cluster
