# Preparing for a Version Upgrade - Editing the TiUP Cluster Topology Configuration File

+ Enter the vi edit mode of the topology file
  + `tiup cluster edit-config <cluster-name>`

Enter the vi edit mode for the topology file:
tiup cluster edit-config <cluster-name>

Refer to the topology configuration template (https://github.com/pingcap/tiup/blob/master/embed/examples/cluster/topology.example.yaml) format and fill in the parameters you want to modify in the topology file Under server_configs.

After the modify is complete: wq save and exit edit mode, enter Y to confirm the changes.

Before upgrading to 6.1.0, make sure that the parameters modify in 4.0 are compatible in 6.1.0. Please refer to the TiKV configuration file description.

The following TiKV parameters are deprecated in TiDB v5.0. If the following parameters have been configured in the original cluster, you need to delete these parameters in the edit-config edit mode:

server.request-batch-enable-cross-command
server.request-batch-wait-duration
