We can choose the backup method according to this flow chart.

Is sufficient downtime allowed? If allowed, you can use cold backup method up the data files directly. Otherwise, we'll have to use the hot reserve method.

If I take the hot reserve approach, what is the next thing I need to consider about the size of the data?
   For small amounts of data (a few gigabytes on average), we can use logical backups.
   If it's a large amount of data (tens of gigabytes on average), we can use a copy or BR tool to back it up.
