# Using TiDB Lightning - Visual Interfaces

TiDB Lightning supports checking the import progress or performing some simple task management on the web page, which is the server mode of TiDB Lightning. This article introduces the web interface and some common operations in server mode.

There are several ways to enable server mode:
Add the command line argument —server-mode to start tidb-lightning.
. /tidb-lightning —server-mode —status-addr:8289

Set lightning.server-mode in the configuration file.
[lightning]
server-mode = true
status-addr = ':8289'

Once TiDB Lightning starts, you can go to http://127.0.0.1:8289 to manage the program (the actual URL depends on your status-addr settings).
In server mode, TiDB Lightning does not start running immediately, but imports data by users submitting (multiple) tasks on a web page.
