BR, fully known as Backup & Restore, is a command line tool for TiDB distributed backup and recover. It is used to back up and recover TiDB clusters. In addition to regular backup recover, BR can also be used to perform large-scale data migration while ensuring compatibility.

The following types of files are generated in the backup path:
SST file: Stores data information backed up by TiKV
backupmeta file: Stores the metadata of this backup, including the number of backup files, the key interval of the backup file, the backup file size, and the backup file hash (sha256) value
backup.lock file: used to prevent multiple backups to the same directory
