# Using TiCDC - Common Parameters

__*Using TiCDC*__
__*TiCDC public parameters*__

+ —changefeed-id: ID of the synchronization task
+ —sink-uri: the address downstream of the synchronization task
+ —start-ts: Specifies the start TSO of changefeed
+ —target-ts: specify the target TSO for changefeed
+ —sort-engine: Specifies the sorting engine used by changefeed
+ —config: specify changefeed configuration file

-------------------------------------------------------------
—changefeed-id: The ID of the synchronization task. The format must match the regular expression ^ [a-zA-z0-9] + (\ - [a-zA-z0-9] +) *$. If you do not specify this ID, TiCDC will automatically generate a UUID (version 4 format) as the ID.

—sink-uri: The downstream address of the synchronization task needs to be configured according to the following format. Currently, the scheme supports mysql/tidb/kafka/pulsar.
[scheme] :// [userinfo@] [host]: [port] [/path]? [query_parameters]
When a URI contains special characters, the special characters need to be handled as URL encoding.

—start-ts: Specifies the start TSO of changefeed. The TiCDC cluster will start pulling data from this TSO. The default is the current time.

—target-ts: Specify the target TSO for changefeed. The TiCDC cluster pulls data until this TSO stops. The default is empty, which means that TiCDC does not stop automatically.

—sort-engine: Specifies the sorting engine used by changefeed. Because TiDB and TiKV use distributed architectures, TiCDC needs to sort the data change records before they can be output. This supports unified (default) /memory/file:
unified: Prioritize memory ordering, and automatically use hard disk scratch data when memory is insufficient. This option is on by default.
memory: Sorted in memory. Not recommended, and can easily cause OOM when synchronizing large amounts of data.
file: Completely uses disk scratch data. Deprecated and not recommended for use in any case.

—config: Specify the changefeed configuration file.

—sort-dir: Used to specify the temporary file directory used by the sorter. TiDB is no longer valid since v4.0.13, v5.0.3, and v5.1.0. Please do not use it.
