------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TiDB Dedicated offers extensive compatibility with the MySQL 5.7 protocol, along with the commonly used features and syntax found in MySQL 5.7 and MySQL 8.0.

As a result, the majority of code, applications, drivers, and tools that are currently utilized with MySQL databases can be utilized with TiDB Dedicated with minimal or no modifications. This also means that popular ecosystem tools such as `PHPMyAdmin`, `Navicat`, `MySQL Workbench`, `mysqldump`, and `Mydumper/myloader`, as well as the `MySQL client`, can all be seamlessly utilized with TiDB Dedicated.

In TiDB Dedicated, the values (IDs) of an `AUTO_INCREMENT` column are guaranteed to be globally unique. However, due to the nature of a distributed database system, it is important to note that the IDs may not be allocated sequentially.

TiDB also offers numerous modern database features that are not available in MySQL, you can learn more about these features in our courses:

- TiDB Administration
- TiDB Workshop for MySQL Users
