# Pre-Processing - `Point_Get` Check

+ Determine if the SQL statement can be executed by using `Point_Get`
+ **`Point_Get`**: Get 1 or 0 row only by using the TiKV key, the explicit or implicit (`_tidb_rowid`) primary key
+ For example, when `id` column is the primary key of a clustered index table, `Point_Get` is used to get the particular row
+ **`SELECT id, name FROM emp WHERE id = 901;`**
  + **`UPDATE emp SET name = 'Jim' WHERE id = 901;`**
  + **`DELETE FROM emp WHERE id = 901;`**

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A `Point_Get` operation returns either 1 or 0 row.
- `Point_Get` operations are simple to optimize and do not require logical or physical optimization.
- `Point_Get` operations are commonly used in OLTP systems.

For `Point_Get` operations, the logical and physical optimization steps are bypassed.

Using a `_tidb_rowid` value to access a row from a table with an implicit primary key also constitutes a `Point_Get` operation.
