# Disabling the Auto Gathering Job

+ Turn on/off the auto gathering job by using TiDB server system variable **`tidb_enable_auto_analyze`**
+ If the system variable `tidb_enable_auto_analyze` is set to `OFF`, statistics will not be automatically collected, even if all triggering conditions are met.

```
tidb> SHOW GLOBAL VARIABLES LIKE 'tidb_enable_auto_analyze';
+--------------------------+-------+
| Variable_name            | Value |
+--------------------------+-------+
| tidb_enable_auto_analyze |  ON   |
+--------------------------+-------+
1 row in set (0.00 sec)
tidb> SET GLOBAL tidb_enable_auto_analyze = OFF;
Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.02 sec)
tidb> SHOW GLOBAL VARIABLES LIKE 'tidb_enable_auto_analyze';
+--------------------------+-------+
| Variable_name            | Value |
+--------------------------+-------+
| tidb_enable_auto_analyze |  OFF  |
+--------------------------+-------+
1 row in set (0.01 sec)
```
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If the system variable `tidb_enable_auto_analyze` is set to `OFF`, statistics will not be automatically collected, even if all triggering conditions are met. In such cases, manual statistics collection becomes necessary. Manual collection usually occurs when it is determined that the statistical health of a table is inadequate and there is a noticeable decline in SQL performance, as observed through slow query monitoring. Manual collection should be conducted in a manner that does not adversely impact the online business experience.
