# Overview

The agentteam daemon is the local control plane for AgentTeam's first-party AI agent runtime. It runs on the user's machine, starts interactive coding-agent runtimes, exposes the authenticated local API, bridges AgentTeam server messages to agent sessions, and gives runtimes a local HTTP MCP endpoint for sending replies, reading conversation history, uploading files, and inspecting conversation context.

## Desktop Application

On macOS and Windows, Electron owns the AgentTeam window, tray, menus, deep links,
and application updates. It supervises the headless Go daemon and loads the
Desktop renderer from the signed application package. The daemon does not serve
a browser UI. Linux ships the daemon and CLI without Electron.

For a fresh profile, the daemon automatically selects an available local
loopback port and persists it in `~/.agentteam/config.yaml`. Set `port: 0` to choose a
new automatic port on the next daemon start, or set a positive `port` to pin the
authenticated local API port.

## Local Data

By default, agentteam stores daemon state under `~/.agentteam/`. Set `AGENTTEAM_CONFIG_DIR` to use a different directory.
