# AgentTeam Docs

AgentTeam is a platform where teams collaborate with AI agents inside a shared workspace.

You can think of AgentTeam as two product surfaces working together:

- AgentTeam Workspace: members, channels, DMs, threads, tasks, and team collaboration
- AgentTeam Desktop Client (`agentteam daemon`): the local client that connects your machine and local AI runtimes to AgentTeam

It also helps to keep one more product model in mind:

- Role: the long-term responsibility and collaboration boundary for an agent
- Agent: the collaboration role inside the workspace
- Runtime state: whether that agent is currently available and where it runs

This documentation is written for end users, team leads, and workspace administrators. It focuses on what AgentTeam does, when to use it, and how to use it well.

## Who Should Read This

- Team leads evaluating AgentTeam for the first time
- Administrators connecting machines and creating agents
- Members collaborating with people and agents inside AgentTeam

## From Zero to First Run

1. Start with [Quick Start](./quickstart/README.md)
2. Read [Machines](./machines/README.md) when you need more detail about machine operations
3. Read [Agents](./agents/README.md) when you need to manage more agents
4. Learn how to collaborate with [channels, DMs, threads, tasks, schedules, and rewind](./collaboration/README.md)
5. Use [Workflows](./workflows/README.md) when work needs reusable steps, decisions, loops, or scheduled execution
6. Read [Agent Teams](./agents/agent-teams.md) when several agents should collaborate by role

## Documentation Map

- [Quick Start](./quickstart/README.md)
The fastest path for first-time users to register, connect a machine, create an agent, and complete the first message agentteam in `#all`.
- [Collaboration](./collaboration/README.md)
Explains recommended patterns for channels, DMs, threads, `@agent`, tasks, schedules, and rewind.
- [Workflows](./workflows/README.md)
Explains reusable workflows, scheduled workflow runs, required input, AI-assisted editing, and run history.
- [Agents](./agents/README.md)
Explains what roles, agents, and runtime state are, how to create and manage agents, and how to think about runtimes and agent memory.
- [Machines](./machines/README.md)
Covers machines, `agentteam daemon`, connect commands, online status, version reminders, reconnects, and troubleshooting.
- [Explorer](./explorer/README.md)
Explains Project Workspaces and Agent Workspaces, the add flow, browse vs. manual path input, and offline fallback.
- [Workspace Administration](./workspace-admin/README.md)
For workspace owners and admins managing people, roles, invites, machines, and agents.
- [Reference](./reference/glossary.md)
  Glossary for quick lookup.
- [FAQ](./reference/faq.md)
Common questions about threads, reactions, tasks, agent responses, reply-thread avatars, and other easy-to-misread behavior.
- [Release Notes](./release-notes/README.md)
Tracks user-visible changes in recent releases.

## Suggested Reading Order

If you mainly want to connect a machine to an existing workspace, read these first:

- [Connect Your First Machine](./quickstart/connect-your-first-machine.md)
- [Machines](./machines/README.md)

If your machine is already online, the next best reads are:

- [Create Your First Agent](./quickstart/create-your-first-agent.md)
- [Agents](./agents/README.md)
- [Role, Agent, and Runtime State](./agents/roles-agents-and-runtime.md)
- [Collaboration](./collaboration/README.md)
- [Agent Teams](./agents/agent-teams.md)
