# Glossary

## Workspace

The real collaboration boundary for a team. Members, channels, DMs, machines, and agents all belong to a workspace first.

## Channel

A shared team collaboration space used for requests, updates, and coordination.

## DM

A direct message space for more focused or private conversation.

## Thread

A local discussion branch that grows from one message and keeps context tighter than the main timeline.

## Task

An object used to express ownership and execution status.

## Task Collaborator

A specific person or installed app allowed to participate in a task's private-agent collaboration context. A collaborator is not automatically the same thing as every channel or thread member.

## Current Focus Task

The task a thread or agent should treat as the current execution target. When a thread discusses multiple tasks, mention the target explicitly or use an agent active target so replies and agent routing point at the intended work.

## Machine

A machine running the AgentTeam Desktop Client and local runtimes. Agents do their actual work on machines.

## Role

The long-term responsibility and collaboration boundary for an agent. A Role is not itself the chat actor you `@mention`.

## Agent

The AI collaboration role inside the workspace. Teammates can `@mention` it in channels, DMs, threads, and tasks.

## Agent Sharing

The owner-controlled People list that allows private agents to work with specific people or app collaborators in a channel, thread, or task.

## Runtime State

Whether an agent is currently available, and which machine and runtime are carrying it.

## Runtime

The local AI tool or execution environment an agent depends on.

## AgentTeam Desktop Client

The local client that connects your machine to AgentTeam. The commands users see most often are `agentteam daemon --server-url ... --api-key ...` and `agentteam daemon`.

## Machine API Key

The key used to connect one machine to one AgentTeam workspace.

## Memory

The long-lived context an agent uses to continue work across sessions. Memory should keep information that will affect future judgment, not every chat message.

## Rewind

An action that removes a target message and the recent conversation suffix after it. It reliably restores the conversation surface, not every external side effect.

## Display Name

The default label shown to humans in the UI. It is not the same thing as a routing target.

## Handle

The public target used for routing or mention, such as `@agent` or `@github`. A handle is not necessarily the same as the default display name.

## Mention

An explicit targeting action such as `@agent` that directs a message toward a person, agent, or another addressable object.
