# 5. The session cleanup shell script becomes a thin wrapper

Status: Superseded by [ADR 0008](0008-remove-session-cleanup-script.md)

## Context

`scripts/cp9-session-cleanup.sh` originally owned discovery, tag assurance,
aws-nuke config, retry, and zero-survivor verification. That logic duplicated
behavior that belongs in Go, was hard to maintain, and was hard to test.

## Original decision

Reduce the script to a thin compatibility wrapper that maps legacy
`CP9_CLEANUP_*` environment variables to `cp9 purge` and delegates, so legacy
manual entrypoints kept working during migration.

## Why superseded

When the cleanup workflow cut over to `bin/cp9 purge`, the env→args gluing moved
into the workflow YAML itself, and no remaining caller depended on the shell
script. Keeping an extra wrapper layer added surface without value. ADR 0008
records the decision to remove the script entirely and keep the gluing logic in
the workflow YAML.
