# Author and share a skill

You can extend Investibook with your own skills — capability bundles that
teach the agent how to investigate a class of problems specific to your
team.

## 1. Write the skill

A skill is a directory with:

- A `SKILL.md` describing **when** to use the skill, written for the agent.
- Step-by-step instructions and reference material.
- Optional helper scripts or prompts.

A good skill description names the **trigger phrases**, the **required
sources** (e.g. "cluster meta of a TiDB Cloud Dedicated cluster"), and a
short example of when it would be wrong to use it.

## 2. Upload to your workspace

Open **Settings → Skill Hub** and click **Upload**.

Investibook validates the skill structure and adds it to the current
workspace. From then on, the agent can pick it like any built-in skill, and
it shows up in the sources panel.

> **Workspace scope only.** Uploaded skills do not affect other workspaces or
> teammates. Use this for fast iteration: tweak the skill, re-upload, ask the
> agent again.

## 3. Share with the team

When the skill is solid, submit a pull request to
[tidbcloud/nutshell-skills](https://github.com/tidbcloud/nutshell-skills).
Once merged, it ships as a built-in skill for every workspace.

## 4. Watch adoption

After your skill is in the built-in catalog, the
[Ranking](/docs/features/skill-ranking) page will show how many engineers
are using it and how often.
