# 2021-03-12-16:03:13+0800 upgrade cluster 1369878215350292480 to v5.0.0-rc

- Cause: customer [requested this change](https://pingcap.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/140)
- Operations:

```bash
# take a backup of current tc
kubectl get tc -n $NS -o yaml > tc_backup.yaml
# edit target tidbcluster resource, set `.spec.version` to `v5.0.0-rc`, set `.spec.tidb.baseImage` to `knightxun/tidb`
kubectl edit tc -n $NS
# wait the upgrade complete
kubectl get po -n $NS --watch
```

- Impact: The cluster will be rolling-restarted and upgraded from `v4.0.9` to `v5.0.0-rc`
- Recovery Operation: apply the `tc_backup.yaml` back to the cluster
- Time window: Mar 11, 15:30 ~ 15:40 CST
