# 2021-04-07-09:15:00+0800 upgrade ap-northeast-1 ap-southeast-1 us-east-1 us-west-2 eks seeds to v1.17

- Cause: We are going to upgrade our eks seeds to v1.17 in https://github.com/tidbcloud/infra/pull/929. Upgrading eks version will take 30+ minutes. To accelerate the release process, we are going to manually upgrade some eks seeds in advance.
- Operation:

- Impact: These EKS seeds will be upgraded to v1.17, the shoot apiserver in these seeds may suffer minutes of outage, since we only run
a single replica ETCD, the apiserver will be unavailable when the ETCD Pod is migrating to an new Node.
- Recovery operation: This operation cannot be rollback, we've upgrade the eks to v1.17 and verify the results in staging
